Website Page Counter

Page count is a signal — page types decide your scan

Accessibility law applies to your entire consumer-facing site, not just the homepage. Your page count is a useful signal of size, but it is not how a scan is scoped — here is what actually matters:

Audit scope

Smaller sites can be audited end-to-end. Larger sites need template-based sampling — homepage, category, product, cart, checkout, account.

Legal exposure

More pages = more violation surface. A 200-page ecommerce store can have hundreds of issues spread across templates; fines compound per breach in some jurisdictions.

Plan fit

Webply scans by page type, not raw page count — deeper plans cover more distinct templates per scan. Match your site's complexity to a plan instead of guessing.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my page count matter for EU accessibility compliance?

Under the European Accessibility Act (EAA, in force since 28 June 2025), if your site is covered — because customers can buy, book, subscribe, or pay on it — your obligation applies to your entire consumer-facing website, not just the homepage. A site with 50 pages has more surface area for violations than a site with 5. Your page count is the first input to scoping a WCAG 2.1 AA audit and choosing the right monthly scan quota.

How does the page counter work?

We send a polite crawler (User-Agent: WebplyBot) to your homepage, follow same-domain links up to 3 levels deep, and count unique HTML pages. We skip assets, admin paths, archives, and feeds. The count is capped at 500 pages for a public free tool — sites bigger than that get a "500+" indicator.

Will the crawler hammer my site?

No. We sequentially fetch pages with reasonable timeouts and only count public HTML. The whole crawl typically completes in 5–15 seconds for sites under 100 pages. We do not load images, CSS, JS, or any other assets — only HTML.

My site has thousands of pages. Why did you stop at 500?

For very large sites a free public crawler is the wrong tool — both for accuracy (sitemaps and segmentation matter) and for our hosting cost. Sites this size should request a tailored audit through our access form, where we onboard you with a proper scan plan and per-template sampling.

Does this count subdomains or external links?

No. The counter is same-domain only by design — subdomains and external destinations are not included. If your site has multiple language subdomains (de.example.com, fr.example.com), count each one separately. Each language version is a separate compliance surface under EAA.

What plan should I pick based on my page count?

Page count alone should not pick your plan. Webply scans page types (templates), not individual pages, and most sites — large or small — have only a handful. A 2,000-page shop and a 30-page brochure site can both come down to 6–10 distinct page types. So your plan depends on how many page types you have and which modules you need, not your raw page count. Start a free scan: we detect your page types first, then you choose how many to cover.
